Welcome to Earth Day 2021.

We hesitate to use the word 'happy' because in a perfectly happy world without an increasing amount of climate issues and nowhere near enough daily action on them, such a day wouldn't be needed. On the other hand the fact that for more than half a century millions of people have been coming together to take notice of and action on those issues is definitely something to celebrate.

There are a lot of things going on all over the world. If you are out doing something in your local community to make a change, improve your local environment, or just to discuss and raise awareness, then we applaud you.

If you want to take part in something from home, then you can watch and take part in the Earth Day Live digital event, which features workshops, panel discussions, and special performances with a focus on ‘Restore Our Earth’. It covers natural processes, emerging green technologies, and innovative thinking that can restore the world’s ecosystems.

You can watch live and also get involved by live chatting on the Earth Day Org channel on YouTube. You can find a schedule for the event on the Earth Day Org website, but it's not very clear or complete.

At the same time as that is taking place, US President Biden is hosting a virtual world summit on climate change involving 40 world leaders. If you are interested in seeing what they have to say then you can also check out that live stream here.

Wherever you are and whatever you are doing, whether you choose to participate in Earth Day or not, stay safe and happy. Do your part every day, and be aware of the issues around the world that mean we still need this awareness event, more than we ever have, half a century after it started.
